iOS - Overview

Opsgenie iOS App v3 is designed to manage alerts easily from your mobile phone. View alerts, on-call schedules, and notification settings and execute actions on them using the iOS app.

Opsgenie iOS v3 is fully native and is optimized for speed, usability, and reliability.

Login

The login screen appears when the application is opened for the first time. After providing a valid Opsgenie account name and password, tap Next, then Login.

Notifications

After a mobile phone is registered, push notifications are received according to a user's notification rules.

When a push notification is received, the sound previously selected as the notification sound plays unless the mobile phone is in silent mode.

Swipe left on the notification to see quick actions on the iOS Notifications screen (available also in lock screen) and when the application is active.

Dashboard

The dashboard includes a quick look at details for your next on-call shift, alert and incident information, and any alerts or incidents that fall under the Saved Searches criteria for quick insight. "Your next on-call time" module displays the schedule you have a rotation for, and the next rotation’s Start time and End time. Alerts and Incidents list the counts for Critical, Open, Unacked, and Unseen Alerts.

While the side menu is visible, tap the name of the desired page to navigate to. Pages include Dashboard, Alerts (which also includes Incidents), Who Is On Call, Directory, My Profile, Services, and Announcements. Settings and the selection to Mute for 5 minutes are also included at the bottom of the navigation menu. The side menu pushes aside the window of the current page to the right. Tapping the side menu shortcut or any point on the pushed screen will hide side-menu.

Quickly see profile information including username, email, and account name. Under that information is a note either You are on call or You are not on call. Tap See Schedules to view “My Schedule” and add Overrides for any selected schedule.

Refresh pages by swiping down the current window within the application.

Toast Messages

Opsgenie shows toast messages to keep you informed about some requests and states. A toast message is shown and disappears by itself in case of successful/unsuccessful actions, network errors, etc. without having any negative effect on UI.

Alert/Incident Lists

View the list of alerts/incidents and perform actions on them from the alert/incident list page. Switch between an Alert view and Incident view by accessing the drop-down option on the top of the screen, as shown below.

Alerts and Incidents are displayed according to different filters including Open, Critical, Unacked, Closed, Unseen, and All. Change the current filter by swiping to the desired filter on the navigation bar. To see more filter options, hold the bar while swiping to the left.

Performing actions on alerts in the alert list page

Swipe left on any alert to Acknowledge an alert. To see the list of all available actions, tap the “More…” button after swiping an alert to the left. See the list of actions also by tapping “Other Actions” in the Alert Details page of a selected alert.

Multi-Select mode and performing actions on multiple alerts

Start multi-select mode by pressing on an alert from the list for two seconds. When multi-select mode is activated in the alert list page, select multiple alerts by tapping each one. The check mark indicates it is selected. Tapping on an already selected alert will deselect the tapped alert.

Choose an Action to execute on the selected Alerts by tapping Actions and selecting the desired action such as Close, Add Team, Delete, etc. After performing any action on multiple-selection mode, the alert list returns to single selection mode automatically. Deselect selected alerts by tapping Cancel on the top right of the Alerts bar.

Alert Details

Obtain detailed information about alerts on Alert Details page. Open the details of an alert by tapping any alert in the alert list (not during multiple selection mode).

Display all available actions on the alert and perform any of them by tapping the Actions button on the right side of the navigation bar.

Display the recipients and their states, notes which were added to the alert and logs related with the alert by selecting Recipients, Notes, or Logs from the tab bar at the bottom of the screen.

Other Pages

Who Is On Call

Investigate all schedules and active rotations at the moment within the Who Is On Call page. Tap the gear icon to the right of the desired schedule to add a new override rotation start and end date and time. Then click Next, and if no rotation is selected, the override is applied to all schedules. Add Override to add the override to the schedule.

Notification Settings

Display and update notification rules, contact methods and sound settings using the My Profile page. The Rules segment displays notification preferences and rules, while Contact Methods segment displays defined contact methods.

Sounds segment displays the notification sound settings for the current device and the option to update these settings. Enable/disable notification preferences, notification rules, and contact methods from this screen. However, to add or delete use our web interface.

Add Forwarding rules and designate Quiet hours from the My Profile page, as well.

Schedules

Display on-call schedule information for any day in the Schedules page.

Days scheduled for on-call duties have a white dot on the calendar. Tap any day within calendar to display the on-call schedule information at the bottom side of the calendar view.

Directory & User Details

See and search the entire list of users on your account and their main email address. Click on the desired User to see their profile, including a shortcut to mail them, their timezone, and a list of which teams they belong to.

Tap any of the contact methods within User Details page to be redirected to contact the user according to the selected contact method. Tapping Mail launches iOS Mail app and tapping Call performs a phone call using iOS Phone app.
